 Maui and the Sun

once upon a time Maui and his brothers were cooking dinner. They were finishing heating the hangi pit and were getting the food ready to put in the pit when the sun went down fast it was dark and it was hard to see.

Maui got really angry because he had to eat his food in the dark he got up and told everyone why should we have to be slaves to the sun. and then he said he was going to catch the sun and tell him to go slow across the sky.

Then Maui brothers all laughed and then they told him he can not catch the sun. And Maui said watch me I will catch the sun when it's time to come out.. And then Maui told everyone to make ropes so he can catch the sun with it . when it was ready Maui and the brothers went of to catch the sun they all hid in the trees and caves waiting . when the sun was coming out Maui and his brothers throw the rope around the sun and then Maui got on top and started beating the sun with his magic jawbone and then the sun said why a you beating for? Maui said to the sun stop going across the sky fast we can’t get all our things done and then the sun said ok. The next day and every day the sun started moving slower across the sky.
